Sick of regurgitated phrases, cream-puff promises, sticky sales pitches and so many sugary poison-laced lies? The world we live in is full of words…full of messages…full of hype and propaganda. Unfortunately such words and messages are powerful. They play at our emotions; get us to buy the latest and greatest toys or gadgets. Carefully crafted words change minds and attitudes, influence election outcomes, sell products, and yes often draw people away from God’s Truth, his Bible Word. God has truth for us and for the world. The Apostle Paul says, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16) God’s Word is the clear voice of truth in this world full of competing messages.

Welcome to Verses for The King. The title of my blog is based on Psalm 45:1 “My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king.” Here you’ll find poetry and other creative writing centered on Christ and emphasizing themes from God’s Word. This blog will be filled with creative poetry, verses and passages dedicated to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Savior of this fallen World—Jesus Christ. My prayer is that you will be uplifted as you read these posts and that they center your attention on God’s truth in a unique and interesting way and help you to quietly focus on the Word, in a world obsessed with words.

My name is Adam Nitz. I was trained as a Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) Pastor and was privileged to serve a congregation in Michigan for three years. After much wrestling in prayer and evaluating personal and family considerations I resigned my call. Part of the new direction my life has taken includes creative writing. I’ve always loved to write. Growing up I filled notebooks with poetry and reflections on life, faith, people and God. I love to create with words and I love to make people think. I am currently also working on publishing a book, a work of Historical Christian fiction. I’m taking a real person mentioned briefly in the Bible and imagining what his life’s journey may have been like.
