Building on the Rock a blog by Katie Visaggio

Building-1Welcome to Building on the Rock, a blog dedicated to Christian parenting—the humorous, sometimes tearful, and grace-filled moments that come with the privilege and blessing of having children. My name is Katie Visaggio and I am a wife to Mathew and stay-at-home mommy to Laura, our spunky little 18 month old toddler.

I graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota almost nine years ago. I taught in a WELS grade school for four years and then spent four more years teaching preschool. In June 2012, I left my career as a teacher of a whole classroom of little ones to focus on just one…little Miss Laura. I’ve learned that more than anything I need to search Scripture, pray continually, and trust in our Heavenly Father’s good grace more than ever in order for our family of three to thrive. Each month through Building on the Rock, I hope to share stories, reflections, and prayers with you as we navigate this parenting gig together.

My hope and prayer is that through this blog we can help build our homes and lives on the strongest foundation there is—Jesus Christ. As he taught us in Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
