Eirene (Peace)

Eirene is an original song for Lent by Timothy Reynolds with a “70s rock piano vibe.”

Timothy gives us a little insight into the title and lyrics of the piece:

Weight loss Many of these prostate cancer signs develop slowly get viagra overnight over several months. Eirene [is] a Greek word for peace. And I’m thinking of the Messiah’s peace. The peace that we have because we’re assured of our salvation through Christ. And so we have a tranquil state in our bodies and minds. Our soul is at rest.

I had been meditating on the Messianic, prophetic Psalms – reading through a number of those and thinking about Christ as our Messiah. …And then the chorus of the song focuses on the passion of Christ – his betrayal and mockery, his abandonment, and the brutal nature of crucifixion. And then I’ve created a bridge which focuses on the 7 words from the cross that Christ speaks. (“Words” of course are statements – 7 statements that he makes.)

Timothy pairs his work with some wonderful art pieces by Rembrandt, Rubens, Bosch, and others. (A full list can be found at the end of the video.)
